Cian’s mammy woke him up for school like every other morning. He got dressed and went downstairs, like every other morning. He sat down and ate his breakfast, like every other morning. But this morning was not like every other morning. Cian’s daddy told him something that would lead to a great adventure…
His daddy told him: “Today there is going to be a Blue Moon Cian, this only happens once every thirty-five years, the moon will be blue in the sky instead of grey! Today Cian, you can make a wish and it might come true! But you have to dream big!”
Cian was so excited to hear this news! He thought about what his daddy had told him on his walk to school. He thought about all his wishes…. A new bike! A new dog! More toys! He thought about his wishes all day in school.
Cian sat on the swing, he closed his eyes. The air was so fresh and he felt the sunshine on him. He knew what he wanted to wish for! So… he closed his eyes tightly, and dreamt that he could fly with the birds in the sky! Just for a few hours.
He swung higher and higher and higher……….and then…… LIFT OFF!!! Off he flew into the sky, leaving his mammy and sister in the playground. The higher he went, the fresher the air felt, and then he was flying with the birds, so high in the sky! He felt excitement, and realised that he dreamt big and it came true. He saw the blue moon starting to appear in the sky…
Off he flew with the birds for a while… firstly, he flew over his friend Conn’s house. He saw Conn playing in the garden with his sisters. He wanted to play too, but he was so far away!
He then flew over the park near his house and saw the neighbour’s dogs rolling around in the grass. Cian loved to play with the dogs but he was so high in the sky.
He then flew over his house and saw his daddy and his other sister, Ciara. They were laughing together and playing with a skip rope in their back garden. Oh, he wished he could join them, but he was too far away…
Cian closed his eyes tightly…. he wished aloud, so high in the sky: “Blue Moon, please send me home, my perfect dream is being with my family! Not so high in the sky…” Suddenly, Cian found himself back in the playground with his mammy and sister. Mammy was laughing, “I know you love the swings Cian, but it is time to go home”. Cian gave mammy the biggest smile and jumped happily off the swing. He told her: “Mammy, I was flying so high, but I am so happy to be back on the ground!”. Mammy was little confused…
Sometimes your dreams have already come true, you just have to open your eyes. Cian realised that he was so lucky to have his family and friends. He didn’t need to dream so big anymore, as he was living a wonderful dream already.
